The Community Outreach Wing of the Foundation, the Yuva Ekta group is a random mix of students from different schools, backgrounds, interests and aspirations. One core thread binds them together – the burning desire to bring about social change.
The Yuva Ekta group is at its most active during the summer break when they come together to discuss contemporary issues and create a fresh street play that voices their collective anger and expresses their collective Vision. The play is staged in public spaces across the city for the general public, to provoke and stimulate an interactive discussion with the group after the performance.
This year’s play “Mere Haq, Meri Zimmedari” was welcomed by a responsive audience at Dilli Haat early June. It was also performed for the inmates of the Observation Home for Boys at Kingsway Camp, to begin a dialogue on rights and responsibilities of every citizen and the concept of Self Respect.
The play has been doing the rounds of different schools, entertaining the students while provoking them to wake up and question things around them!
Yuva Ekta is working on a monthly newsletter that chronicles all its activities and invites new members to widen its base.
The group is active on Facebook under the name of Active Citizen
